Chisom Nwankwo | Nigeria 

 

Chisom Nwankwo has more than nine years of experience in technology, innovation, and climate change policymaking. She is a senior scientific officer at the Environmental Sciences and Technology Department of the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology in Nigeria, where she functions as the desk officer for the Nigerian Cleantech Innovation Program, Methanol Fuel Implementation Program, and Nigerian Textile and Fashion Technology and Sustainability Project. Chisom holds a bachelor's degree in Microbiology and is currently pursuing her master's degree in Gender with a focus on gender bias in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. She is an advocate for the return, reintegration, and integration of refugees and internally displaced persons through her volunteer work at the Skilled Women Initiative, a non-governmental organization that provides vocational and technological skills for refugees and internally displaced persons in Nigeria. After completing the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, Chisom plans to continue to create projects and policies that raise awareness of climate change, cleantech, gender promotion, fashion sustainability, and innovation in Nigeria and Africa, and she plans to continue to help resettle and return as many refugees and internally displaced persons as possible.
